  • “Wonderfully, Perfectly Unusual! is a breath of fresh air for kids struggling with bullying at a young age. It’s extremely powerful and necessary for all students and teachers! Chris Wright,” Chris Wright, Founder, Texas Anti-Bullying Coalition

“For every child who “wishes” they were like everyone else, Wonderfully Perfectly Unusual! celebrates the unique and glorious qualities of being “different. Many of us who have experienced the loneliness of being different are reminded how to stand proud and be our own cheerleaders! Thank you, Sharon!” Jane Ubell-Meyer, Founder, Bedside Reading

“This book inspires me to be myself and accept everybody I meet.” Connally, age 9

“Wonderfully, Perfectly Unusual! is a great resource and tool to teach children that it’s ok to be different, and we highly recommend it for parents and schools.” Kirk Smalley, President, Stand for the Silent

“In a world that so easily tears down, this story reminds readers that joy is found in being yourself. As a child therapist, I often see the long-lasting effects of bullying. This message of courage and friendship belongs on every child’s shelf.” Courtney Stewart, Licensed Professional Counselor and mother of two perfectly unusual kids.

“This book about a little shark named Connor has been so popular in our school library the students created an ocean mural where all the “Connors” can celebrate their perfectly unusual personalities!” Patricia Cranford, Teacher/Librarian M.S.

“I love this book because sharks are very cool, especially hammerheads! I’m like Connor, the shark; perfectly, wonderfully unusual.” Colston, age 7

“My 10-year-old son was born without one of his chromosomes and other health issues. Kids make fun of him, and people stare because he’s different. This delightful book has inspired him to become much more confident in himself.” Ashley Ramirez, Mother

“I absolutely LOVE this book. With the message to embrace your uniqueness and how to positively navigate bullying, this book is a MUST for every child’s library.”  Leonore Hicks, Pediatric Speech Language Pathologist

We need kids to appreciate differences!

What a great lesson for kids to not only appreciate others who are different but also to be happy with whoever they are. I loved this theme and the beautiful book. Thank you!!

A heartwarming and powerful message to all

Sharon and Conner 's message to anyone who reads this book is a powerful one especially in today's world. The need for children to begin to learn early not only acceptance of others and their uniqueness, but of self-acceptance. Beautiful.

Thanks, Dell. You are exactly right, they need to learn early and be reminded constantly as they grow, that they are wonderfully, perfectly themselves.

    A Blessing in a Story

So many wonderful things about this book! That a 10-year-old helped write it, that it points out the importance of diversity, that it encourages us to seek out what we have in common rather than what differences may appear on the surface - a delight to read, and to share!

    Ruth,

Thank you for your wise insight. I have fought a few dragons myself. Luckily, age has improved my vision!

    Encouraging

We gave this book to a neighbor for their son who was having some problems. He is starting to come out of his shell and has made some new friends. His parents said he is now smiling and walking away rather than trying to fight back. Thank you Sharon for teaching him how special he really is.
